CAR RENTALS FOR NEW DRIVERS – THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
One of the most frequently asked questions we receive at RentCar.gr,regarding car rentals is about the terms that apply if you are a young driver. First, it’s important to clarify that you are considered a "young driver" if you are between 20 and 24 years old. To rent a car, you must have held a valid driving license for at least one year. Do you fall into this age group? Then the following tips will be useful for you.
- In contrast to what it is believed, you don’t have to be 25 to hire a car in Crete. Nevertheless, if you are under 25, when hiring a car, it is mandatory to choose the Full Coverage Auto Insurance Package (Platinum).
- Make sure you have a valid driver's license and identity card / passport. You also need a credit or debit card at your name/the main driver’s name. The person who signs the car rental agreement is legally responsible for the car, so only their credit card can be used.
- If someone else will be driving the vehicle, you must declare the additional driver in the rental agreement in advance. Otherwise, you, as tenant, will be held responsible for any damages to the vehicle or to third parties. The declaration can be done at any RentCar.gr site throughout the rental period. Since you are required to select the Platinum Insurance package, the second driver is included for free.
