3 + 1 TIPS TO AVOID RENTAL CAR TRAPS
If you are interested in renting a car, you should know that there are many companies available - but also many tourist traps! The experienced team of the car hiring brand, RentCar.gr in Heraklion, Crete shares their experience with you and gives tips to avoid mishaps!
1. Make your car rental reservation on time
Last minute bookings have higher rental costs due to reduced availability, while when you book in advance there are high discount rates and a greater variety of vehicles.
2. Choose the Full Package*
The full package includes comprehensive and collision damage, both designed to pay for your vehicle’s damages. A good tips is to ask for the extra insurance for the tires and the glasses which is not covered by the insurance companies in Greece.
3. Read the rental terms before signing the contract
We are all impatient to start our holidays, especially when Crete is the holiday destination. But we should always take some time to read the rental agreement before signing. A good tip is not to choose the car hiring brand when you arrive at Heraklion airport but make sure you have done your research beforehand. At the RentCar.gr website we have listed with complete transparency everything you need to know about the car hiring procedure. Read in your own time: Terms and conditions of car rental.
4. Check the fuel level in the rental car tank
When you pick up the vehicle from the car hiring company, either from the airport of Heraklion, or from the port or from anywhere else in Crete, do not forget to check the gas level. Also, make sure you are aware of the car rental’s fuel policy. We follow the most convenient policy for our customers: You do not need to return the vehicle with a full tank, as long as the fuel tank level is the same as it was when picked up.

* No insurance companies in Greece cover Wheels, Underbody and Crystals. Our company will be able to provide you with an extra option upon pick-up of the car to enlarge your coverage to these parts of the car.
** Security Deposits can be made with a debit or credit card and are processed by the Greek card payment company Cardlink. They are automatically released at the end of the rental agreement. Each bank sets its own terms and conditions regarding the time needed for release and crediting to the cardholder's account from the moment the request is received until the return. RentCar.gr cannot be held responsible for delays imposed by banking institutions.
